| Content: | ATLAS.ti is a computer program that provides support for the qualitative analysis of large bodies of textual, graphical, audio, and video data. The software offers a variety of tools for accomplishing the tasks associated with any systematic approach to "soft" data, e.g., material which cannot be meaningfully analyzed by formal, statistical approaches.
Throughout different project phases, ATLAS.ti helps the researcher to explore and reveal complex phenomena in their material. ATLAS.ti offers a powerful, intuitive environment in which project data always remains clearly in focus. Its layout and functions allow the researcher to deal with the inherent complexity of both typical analytical tasks as well as the data itself. The main strategic modes of operation around which the program is centered have been expressed by developers in the acronym "VISE": Visualization, Integration, Serendipity, and Exploration. During the workshop, you will receive a comprehensive overview of fundamentals as well as best practices on a variety of topics: preparing your data at the beginning of an ATLAS.ti project, assigning and coding data from various media sources, creating a code structure, building queries (i.e. working with the Query Tool) and creating networks in order to present your data on a conceptual level. The main focus in the introductory workshop is on the functional and technical aspects of the software; however, methodological issues will be addressed as well. Workshop Outline [pdf - 105 KB] |
